Why Creative Careers Stall & How to Move Forward.

I had a really wonderful conversation with an Artist today that reminded me of something really important. And although it may seem like common sense, the reminder is what keeps us in the present -
We may have websites, social media accounts, and all the other things we believe and know we need as Freelancers, Creatives, and Businesses. The next step is strengthening your visibility.
Sometimes our careers feel like they've hit a ceiling. I actually can’t tell you how many creatives I’ve heard say these exact words! The work is there. The talent is there. But if people can't immediately recognize what makes us unique, or they haven't heard from us in months, they're less likely to think of us when the next opportunity arises.
I have a question… What drives you as an artist? What projects in the past have fulfilled you? Digging a little deeper, was it the type of project that excited you? Was it the creative inspiration that led the project? Or was it the team…? Was it a little bit of everything?
Now… Ask yourself this. When was the last time I caught up with anyone who was on that project? When was the last time I connected with that client?
It’s time we leaned more deeply into our personal connections and relationships, not Newsletters and Instagram posts as reminders. It all comes down to personal connection. There is the saying, “Out of sight, out of mind.” And it exists for a reason. Let’s remove that possibility altogether and create a version that works for us instead of against us. How about “Stay Connected, Stay Remembered”
